Krísuvík, also known as Krysuvik is situated on the Reykjanes peninsula. Krysuvik consists of several geothermal fields, such as Seltún. Here you can find mud pots and hot springs that have formed throughout the years with the soil colored in bright yellow, red and green hues.
Seltún hot spring
Seltún is a hot spot in the geothermal area Krysuvik. A boardwalk can be found leading through the area where you can experience boiling mud pots and fumaroles creating other worldly visuals that’s certainly a sight to behold!
The Viking Museum Víkingaheimar
Visit the Viking museum, Víkingaheimar, home to a magnificent replica of a Viking ship called the Gokstad ship, which was excavated in near perfect condition from an ancient burial mound in Norway in 1882.
The Blue Lagoon
The Blue Lagoon geothermal spa is one of the most popular attractions in Iceland. The warm waters are rich of silica minerals and bathing in the Blue Lagoon is reputed to help people suffering from skin diseases. The water temperature in the bathing area of the lagoon averages 37-39 °C. The lagoon is fed by the water output from Svartsengi, a nearby geothermal power plant. The water is fed into the lagoon for recreational and medicinal bathing. The spa is located in a lava field near Grindavik on the Reykjanes Peninsula in southwestern Iceland.
